Evangelist, Physician, and Companion of Paul • Early Church
Luke was a physician and companion of Paul who is traditionally identified as the author of the Gospel of Luke and Acts. His Gospel presents an orderly account of the life and ministry of Jesus addressed to Theophilus, while Acts continues the story from the ascension of Jesus through the expansion of the early Church. Paul refers to Luke as the beloved physician and names him among his fellow workers.
