Wife of Herod Antipas • Life of Jesus
Herodias had been married to Herod Antipas's brother Philip and became the wife of Antipas. John the Baptist condemned the union as unlawful. The Synoptic accounts connect her hostility toward John with the circumstances that resulted in his execution.
