Chief Tax Collector of Jericho • Life of Jesus
Zacchaeus was a wealthy chief tax collector in Jericho who wanted to see Jesus. Because he was short, he climbed a sycamore tree to see over the crowd. Jesus called him down and stayed at his house. Zacchaeus responded with repentance and generosity, and Jesus declared that salvation had come to his house.
