Nation Descended from Lot • Patriarchs → Kingdoms
The Moabites were the descendants of Moab, the son of Lot. They lived east of the Dead Sea and frequently interacted with Israel in both conflict and cooperation. During the period of the Judges, Moab oppressed Israel under King Eglon. Later, Moab appears in stories involving Balak and Balaam and in the lineage of Ruth, the Moabite who became the great-grandmother of King David.
