The Ammonites were the descendants of Ben-Ammi, the son of Lot's younger daughter. Their territory was located east of the Jordan River, north of Moab. Though related to Israel through Lot, the Ammonites frequently opposed Israel, especially during the period of the Judges and the monarchy.
