Disciple on the Road to Emmaus • Life of Jesus
Cleopas was one of two disciples traveling from Jerusalem to Emmaus on the day of Jesus' resurrection. The risen Jesus joined them, though they initially did not recognize Him, and explained the Scriptures concerning the Messiah. They recognized Him when He broke bread, after which Cleopas and his companion returned to Jerusalem to report what had happened.
