Descendant of David • Babylonian Exile
Shealtiel was the son of King Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) of Judah and a descendant of David. He lived during the Babylonian exile and is identified as the father of Zerubbabel, the governor who led the first group of Jewish exiles back to Jerusalem. His lineage preserved the royal Davidic line through the exile.
