Son of Neriah • Kingdom of Judah
Seraiah son of Neriah was the brother of Baruch, Jeremiah's scribe. During King Zedekiah's reign, Jeremiah entrusted Seraiah with a prophetic scroll announcing Babylon's future destruction. After arriving in Babylon, Seraiah read the prophecy aloud and symbolically sank the scroll in the Euphrates River, declaring that Babylon would likewise sink and never rise again because of God's judgment.
