High Priest during the Reign of Josiah • Kingdom of Judah
Hilkiah served as high priest during the reign of King Josiah. During temple repairs he discovered the Book of the Law in the temple, which he delivered to Shaphan the royal scribe. The reading of this book before Josiah led to a national religious reform in Judah.
