Benaiah

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was one of King David's mighty warriors and the commander of the Cherethites and Pelethites, David's royal bodyguard. Known for his bravery, he killed two champions of Moab, slew a lion in a pit on a snowy day, and defeated a large Egyptian warrior. Benaiah remained loyal to Solomon during the succession struggle and was later appointed commander of the army in place of Joab.
